The Celebration of the Spring Equinox

Hello, friend,

I want to apologize in advance if you notice some previous posts on Instagram and TikTok might be missing or have had information edited. Life has thrown a curveball and that’s completely fine. I’m just working through it.

But you are here because of this post about Ostara.

Ostara is the fourth holiday on the wheel of the year if you are starting with Samhain – since that is the new year for practitioners who use the wheel of holidays.

Ostara – unlike Easter which is based on this holiday – does not move months every year. It always falls on the Spring Equinox which is typically March 20th. Sometimes this does shift to either the 19th or 21st, but typically it is the 20th in most cases. This holiday is in ode to the Goddess of the Spring and Dawn of the same name. She is also known as Ēostre. This was originally an Anglo-Saxon goddess.

This holiday is celebrated very similarly to Easter as spring brings new beginnings and new life. This is when you will begin to see the new greenery and new life from animals in the wild. There are races – much like at Easter celebrations – that involve eggs. A number of the food dishes involve eggs. You realize now why it is such a huge deal to involve deviled eggs during the holiday?

Essentially this is us coming into spring to continue the cleaning of our lives we started at Imbolc. Here it doesn’t have to necessarily be cleaning your home in the physical sense.

For me after some things that took place this past weekend, I will be cleansing my space in the spiritual sense – as well as also taking care of my home office because that mess has completely gotten out of hand.

This is a time to recognize what you need to let go and what you need to bring into this new season with you. Clearly the universe made that decision for me and I have some more shadow work to do for myself for certain. So I’ll be focusing on that going forward this year.
