How I Keep My Blonde Vibrant

Happy Monday, Belles & Beaux!

This weekend I did a little running to Ulta and by this I mean I bought the wrong false eyelashes and returned them. Long story short, I thought I had misplaced my absolute favorites that my brow girl Brittany (follow her here on Instagram) pointed me towards right before I did my Christmas photos because I really wanted that pinup look without them looking too fake. However, I found them after buying the wrong ones at Ulta Saturday, so I returned them Sunday.

1238813_10151926019469553_950583084_nThe woman who actually did my return commented on how she wished she could get her hair as light as I get mine. For most of you who follow me on Instagram, you have been with me to my hairstylist appointments for when I get my color done. However there’s a lot that you all don’t know. During high school and college, my hair was more of the golden color. Exhibit A presented to the right from my Senior photos in high school.

I decided the year after I graduated that I was done with the gold and we started aiming for a platinum color. And then I decided to claim my life as the Mother of Cats and started in on the silver life – which I thoroughly keep coming back to and always will.

So to keep this going, I do a lot of no-no’s that most hairstylists would probably comment and say that I’m doing my hair a disservice. I honestly don’t care. It’s extremely healthy and until I see otherwise, I will continue this routine.

Now any links that I use from here on are a reference for where I specifically buy my products because they are the easiest for me to get them at. Plus Ulta happens to do their hair sale twice and year and that’s when I pick up my jumbo bottles because they are usually half off!

Joico Color Endure Violet Shampoo & Conditioner

I have tried so many others – I’m going to try the Kristin Ess ones soon – and they all for some reason get stuck in my hair. Like I mean my hair keeps a purple sheen under all lighting. My theory is because I’ve worked so hard to start using sulfate free products that my hair can’t handle things with sulfate in it. Which is why I’m praying when I finally try the Kristin Ess that since it’s sulfate free, it will be the same level of fabulous for my hair as the Joico line is.

I shampoo and condition my hair with this specific shampoo and conditioner 95 percent of the time. And every hairstylist that might be reading this just lost their mind because almost every single one of them that I have ever told I constantly use my purple shampoo every time I’ve washed my hair tell me that I shouldn’t do it. Well, you don’t know my hair and it gets so coppery and golden if I don’t. So therefore, until my blonde hair stops doing that, I will continue with this.

AG Hair Natural Balance Apple Cider Vinegar Sulfate-Free Shampoo

Mouth-full isn’t it?

Remember how I said I use my purple shampoo 95 percent of the time. This is shampoo is what I use that other 5 percent. You might be asking yourself why. This is because this shampoo is more like a clarifying shampoo for me. I use this when my hair feels a weighed down by a build up of product in my hair.

I’m not saying my the Joico doesn’t clean my hair, I just use a couple different hair masks on occasion along with a mousse to help give my hair more body when I blow dry it – if I blow dry it. I’m hoping once it gets out long again I won’t have this problem but I’m also going to be honest I might have to just start sleeping in giant curlers so that I get the whole Serena Van Der Woodsen look again.

But the long story short is I use this to get the build up out of my hair every so often. I’m hoping to start doing once a month from here on out so that I don’t have to worry about it, but this really helps me keep my blonde super vibrant.

Put Simply…

I just shampoo my hair with purple shampoo and let it keep lightening my hair! It even helps me with the color of my roots shockingly because they come in so dark but by the time I see my stylist it’s not so icky dark.

But good news is, I’m hoping to last until the end of April to have my color touched up. And I have a consultation for potentially get extensions. I’m still debating on length, but right now I just want to know if it’s going to be worth the time and effort – and money – to do it for the rest of the year to hopefully keep me from going crazy until it gets long enough.

I’m going to try some different hair vitamins after I finish my current ones and will report back with which ones seems to work the best!

Have an amazing day, y’all!

XOXO,

Trula Marie
