My Favorite Event of the Year

Hey belles & beaus!

It’s finally Friday (Friyay!) and I’m at work today. I’m actually loving the whole working five days a week with a casual Friday to look forward to at the end. So life is pretty awesome right now. And obviously I’ve gotten to do some more blogging this week which has made me extremely happy. But now that I’ve give y’all my little life update, let’s get into today’s topic!

The weekend before Halloween is one of my favorites in Alabama, specifically Florence. Locally, Florence does a Renaissance Faire at Wilson Park. Vendors come in from all over to dress up and sell things at it. Now granted, this one doesn’t have near the amount of vendors that come to the Middle Tennessee Renaissance Faire, but we have a few of the same ones. A lot are local and then you have a great many that just travel and do this as their profession! I seriously enjoy it every year just because it’s fun to go to.

Typically I go dressed up, but the last couple of years I’ve either not had an outfit or it was too cold for the outfit I had planned. This year is kind of the same. I’m sad about it but I’m hoping my mom’s cloak that my grandmother made for her and my aunt when they were in high school might help with the freezing temperatures. But right now I am seriously doubting it.

My point in this post is to discuss some tips I have for things like this.

Always Plan Accordingly

Always keep an eye on the weather when you plan on heading to a festival like this. Weather plays the largest factor in what vendors will be open, if the sword fight exhibitions will be taking place, and what you should wear. Normally my outfits are pretty much a perfect blend for either type of weather. Sadly, this year’s outfit might be more summery than I had imagined. But I love it anyways because it’s sooooo Daenerys Targaryen inspired – and definitely the Targaryen red.

My point is to just plan according to the weather expected during the festival. Much better to be ready for anything. Plus if there’s mud, you don’t wanna wear a pair of shoes that will be ruined!

Bring Cash

Not all vendors have Square and it doesn’t always work in the area. It happens! So make sure you bring some cash with you. I’m not saying bring a lot, but definitely bring a little bit so you can get food or something that catches your eye. It would suck to have to let something go just because the card reader isn’t functioning!

Just Have Fun

My final tip is to just have fun. That’s the point of these things. It’s fun to see everyone’s costumes and just see the vendors! I always love going with Mom because it’s usually a girl’s day. Besides, it’s a day that’s not Halloween that I get to dress up! It’s a win-win for me usually.

Well that is it for today’s post! I hope you all have a fantastic Friyay and a safe weekend.

XOXO,

Trula Marie
