Autumn Equinox Reflections and Altar Ideas

The Autumn Equinox, often called Mabon, marks the second harvest and a time of balance between light and dark. While its modern name has Welsh roots, the heart of the celebration is about gratitude, abundance, and preparing for the turning of the year. From apples and cornucopias to warm autumn colors, this season invites reflection and renewal. For me, it’s also the perfect time to refresh my altar and honor the shifting seasons in simple, meaningful ways.

Heart to Heart: Katherine’s Health Update

Katherine was recently diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a condition where the heart walls begin to harden. While her vets remain hopeful that it may not progress beyond a murmur, it’s still difficult news to process. For now, I’m focusing on keeping her comfortable and cherishing each day we have together. This journey has reminded me how much your support means, and how deeply grateful I am to not be walking it alone.

How I Welcome a New Deck Into My Practice

When I bring a new tarot or oracle deck into my practice, I have a ritual to get to know it properly. From slowly flipping through the cards and noting which ones call to me, to reading the guidebook, cleansing the deck, and even doing an “interview” spread, each step helps me understand the deck’s energy and how it communicates. This process not only deepens my connection but also ensures I’m working with decks that truly resonate with me.
