Third Day of Yuletide
Hello, lovelies!
I had to make a pit stop at Michael’s to pick up a secondary charger plate for reasons. This also lead to discovering the fall floral was out, and I could not resist stopping back in later to pick up some. Why? Because it’s about time to start changing out the flowers on my altar table.
Every season/sabbath I try to revamp at least the florals on my altar, if not then I try to revamp everything on it. For the last year or so, I haven’t been felt to move it around all that much until recently when I changed out the pashmina scarf I had been using as an altar cloth to another that I owned.
To be honest, I’m picky about altar cloths. Why you might ask? Because I can be. Which if that isn’t a good enough reason, the table I currently use is so large that a small bandana size altar cloth that most witch shops carry will not fit it. Thus the pashmina.
Currently, my altar includes a candle spell I am performing, a few other candles including my Flora + Moon Winter Solstice Candle and my St. Florence & St. Stevie candles from Last Craft Designs, some artwork, as well as my floral arrangement for the holiday consisting of the colors related to the holiday. There is also my Hecate statue. Please don’t come at me for the spelling. There are many variations on her name.
So for Yule which I will be celebrating from December 21 (the Winter Solstice) to January 1, my floral arrangement will be moving to reds, golds, greens, and whites. I typically reuse the florals from the previous year because I use faux florals. I love real flowers, but where my altar is located it gets absolutely no sunlight. Therefore, it is much more beneficial to use faux florals.
Everyone decorates differently. There are truly no right or wrong answers. So feel free to go as crazy or as small as you want to. Not everyone has a stable location for an altar and that is fine. You do you and be happy with how you decorate it because that is all that matters.
I also have a video up on Instagram that is a time lapse of me prepping my altar for Yule 2021. So if you want some inspiration, feel free to check it out!
Blessed Yuletide,
Trula Marie
