An Update
Happy Friday, Belles & Beaux!
If you follow the blog’s Instagram, then you know that while I was home the first weekend of February I talked about my skin routine and actually saved it under it’s own highlight there. If you don’t follow the blog’s Instagram, then no worries. I’m going to run you through my skin care routine now since it has changed since the first time I wrote about it.
Mia 1 Clarisonic Brush
I added this to my skin care arsenal in August last year (2018) and I will never go back to using my hands to scrub my skin ever again. I have seen the light and I am so glad that I have because this thing has made such a crazy difference in my skin since I started using it. I was still having breakouts from using my hands to scrub either of my cleansers on my face and now I rarely get – if any – acne. There is the occasional one thanks to my menstrual cycle, but other than that I’m clear faced.
I can actually say this really gets the cleansers I use down into my pores. This makes me feel extremely good about my skin because not only is it cleaning everything out but it’s super gentle. I’ve noticed a major change in my skin since I started using it. My pores seems to be shrinking though I don’t think that’s possible. It might just be that they’re just being really cleaned out on a regular basis. I’ve even seen a reduction in my black heads!
Now I’m not saying this is all because I’ve started using a spin brush, but I’ve noticed an increase reduction in everything since starting to use. Acne, blackheads, skin redness, etc all have seemed to reduce since using this thing. I’ll be sad and yet happy to buy a new one when this one ever gives out because they’ve proven to me that they are worth every penny spent on them.
e.l.f. Daily Face Cleanser
This is an oldie but my absolute favorite. E.L.F. released this product about two-ish years ago and I have continued to use it since I tried it. It is a water-based cleanser which is great for me because my skin is super sensitive to ingredients when it comes to cleansers. I actually had to quit using Pro-Active when I tried it because it was irritating my skin – despite the fact that I was only using it twice a day and following the instructions to the letter.
So having a water-based cleanser has been amazing for me and the price point on this one can’t be beat. I mean come on, $4 USD for a cleanser! That’s almost unheard of. Certainly I’ve noticed some of the effects that a lot of people post about in their reviews – skin feels dry and tight, etc. However, my skin is always craving more hydration because despite my best efforts to drink more water, I just don’t. Plus you’re really not supposed to just wash your face and not put moisturizer on. Heathens!
Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Facial Wash
Every couple of days I try to exfoliate to clean up the dead skin and keep them from clogging up my pores. This in combination with my oily t-zone has spelled trouble for me for years. Now, I’m ahead of the game and pretty good at preventing things from happening thanks to a great regime. Exfoliating also helps take care of that dry, flaky skin that people sometimes experience.
I found this one during Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty sale almost a year ago on sale for half off. I needed a new one because as much as I loved the Lush Dark Angels one, I just wasn’t seeing a good of a result with it. After a couple months of use, I started seeing a major difference so I will definitely continue using it.
Thayer’s Rose Petal Witch Hazel
Thanks to GigglingFattie at No Love for Fatties for reminding me I had planned to change my toner water out. I originally used Burt Bee’s rose water toner which was amazing on my under eyes and the darkness I tend to carry there. That comes with being a super pale gal.
Garnier SkinActive Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream
This is my all time favorite moisturizer for my skin. I’ve tried every kind that’s come with any acne treatments that I’ve purchased in the past but this really works for me. I absolutely love this and it’s a gel! With my combination skin, this really works well and isn’t too heavy for my skin. My skin absorbs this pretty quickly which probably means I’m doing a horrible job at keeping my skin hydrated but what’s new! But I will say my new job is keeping me really hydrated because I’ve been drinking more water – at least drinking one Swell Bottle full so far which is 17 fluid ounces.
Anyways, so that’s my updated daily skin care routine! Next time, I’ll be sharing the side products I use to help battle against small acne flair ups as well as the new primer I have absolutely fallen in love with!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
XOXO,
Trula Marie

My skin care routine is so easy. When I shower I wash my face with a teatree oil based wash, or I will exfoliate, then after the shower, spritz with witch hazel and let it dry and then moisturize. Soooo easy!
I tried doing it in the shower but I try to wash my face twice a day. Once when I get up and again in the evening. So I just leave the shower for everything but washing my face. It makes it a little easier on me.
I’m the opposite haha if it’s not included in my shower routine, I totally forget to do it. I don’t wear makeup very often anymore, like sometimes I’ll go all week and only wear a little on Sunday when I go to church, so even having to remember to remove my makeup before I shower I forget to do. So then I come out looking like a raccoon because my mascara is smeared all over hahaha
