Home Decor: Large Retailers
Happy Friday, Belles & Beaux!
Today, I thought I would share with you some of my favorite decor items that I have purchased as well as some of my favorite places to actually shop for said items. I also figured the “Current Favorites” header would work for this because these are some of my favorite places to actually go shopping so they technically fall into the same category.
When it comes to decorating my spaces, I pretty much stick to pieces that flow together. A lot of my current furniture pieces are pieces that have been in my family for year such as my dresser and armoire. The only new to me piece that I’ve invested in is my desk – which I only paid $20 for. I know what’s wrong with it? Nothing except it takes a whole army to move!
However, finding things that go with these things means that I have to be a little more selective of how and where I shop for items. I fully plan on covering my favorite local locations in my next post, but for today we’re going to focus on the large retailers.
HomeGoods/TJ Maxx
I’m including these two together because they’re basically the same company. HomeGoods just happens to have more home decor options that TJ Maxx. Both are thoroughly amazing at deals on a large basis – at least where I’m concerned.
I recently had been sitting and doing my makeup in the floor of my bedroom which led to my makeup being scatted all over the floor on one side of my bed. I’ve recently been having a good deal of company so I had to fix that problem. Thanks to the HomeGoods near my apartment, I was able to find a small storage cart that has been amazing for my makeup. My favorite part is that my palettes – even my James Charles x Morphe one – actually fit in the trays. Thus I have a whole level of the cart that is just my palettes.
I found a few other pieces for my apartment – and noticed some things that I’d like to go back for when I have a little extra spending money. But for now, I’m on a strict low shopping policy.
At Home
This has become my new favorite as far as big time deals. I got an amazing lamp there recently for my desk, and I want to find another to include on my desk so I can have two instead of just having one on the desk. The type it is make it hard to have equal lighting on the desk so having a second one will be amazing.
But that’s not the only thing I’ve found there. I adore my black velvet hangers. Better Homes & Gardens had them with silver hooks for the longest time and then they changed things up and added gold hooks. I didn’t care for them but needed some more so I bought a small pack. When that wasn’t enough I was in search of the big pack I used to get. Thankfully At Home came in handy and they had a 50 pack for $20. Talk about a steal! I now have more hangers that I really need but it’s nice for when I have guests over so I can hang their coats up or it’s an excuse to buy more clothes. You never know with me.
Hobby Lobby
Before you say anything, yes I know it’s a craft store. But it’s not just a craft store. They have some great wall decor and throw pillows. They have other things but I’m just big on their selection of holiday pillows and door mats. I found my Christmas one there actually among other things that I probably didn’t need, but wanted.
Yes, I have a retail therapy addiction. There I said it.
But you got to admit they have some killer deals on picture frames. I always feel like they’re bringing in something new, and I love going to browse. Used it, it was just for craft supplies – of which I have an over abundance. Now that I’m an “adult” (ish) I go there for craft supplies and decor. Right now I’m waiting on a phone call that my beautiful grey letter board is done with it’s time with them to be framed. I promise I’ll share photos when I get it back.
What are some of your favorite large retailers for home decor?
