Worth The Time?

Happy Tuesday, Belles & Beaux!

I recently – and finally – finished reading Lauren Conrad’s Beauty after having started it nearly two-ish years ago when I found it at McKay’s here in Nashville. I hate that it’s taken me this long to do so, but in a way I find it oddly satisfying to finally finish.

51owaqkaykl-_sx258_bo1204203200_As someone who does not claim to be a beauty guru – I wished I was -, I found this to be extremely helpful for those just starting out in makeup. Similar to her novel Style, Lauren goes through with the tips and tricks that she has learned from her makeup artist as well as her hairstylist that have gotten her where she is today. I highly recommend this for a beginner who’s trying to find tips and tricks to really help them when it comes to their makeup and starting out in the beginning. However, for us more experienced with our makeup and hair thanks to the likes of our favorite beauty gurus, this is more of a going over our foundation blocks.

Conrad made sure to cover it all though when discussing what makeup looks good on what types of eyes and skin tones – thanks to her makeup artist. The same with her hair stylist. There are some great tips and tricks for those seeking a place to start when it comes to their makeup and hair. Granted I’m probably still going to use some of these tips myself when it comes to changing my day look to a night look, but other than that most of this is what I already know as far as makeup goes.

I’m pretty used to my hair by now but there are some cute styles that I found in the book that – once my hair has grown back out – I might give a try. Some of them require teasing but I’ll cover my hair tools that I love soon and include the tool I suggest for teasing. It’s really not teasing so your hair experiences less damage.

All in all, I give it a five out of five for being informative for a reader who has no knowledge of beauty or the industry. But for me? It was more three out of five stars. I’m still going to enjoy keeping it around as I really want to use it as a coffee table book because it’s all in my aesthetic realms.

What book did you look forward to reading but ended up being disappointed in?

XOXO,

Trula Marie
