My New Favorite Bar

As a quick and sad update to this post, Walden Bar closed its doors in January 2022. It is a very sad loss in the area and honestly, no other bar will compare. I’m still thankful for the space they created and luckily got to bring home some Walden decor with me from their last night of business to remember all the fun.

Hey, Belles & Beaux!

The year of 2019 is here and it’s time for my first non-book review!

I’m sure you’ve all noticed the new header image on the home page of the blog (right). That’s in great thanks to one of my dearest friends and my new favorite bar, Walden. I went there at the beginning of December 2018 for my Christmas card photos because the bar was dressed to the nines for Christmas aka #WinterWaldenland. I literally fell in love.

As I said, this has quickly become my new favorite bar and I would gladly go there to hangout more often if it didn’t take me 20 minutes to get there with or without traffic. I currently live on the opposite side of Nashville from them, but I try to get out there every Wednesday when Urban Girl Happy Hour happens – I’ll fill you in on Urban Girl in a future post.

But there is no one word to describe this bar. Going in just feels like home. It has a hipster feel to it but it really isn’t a hipster bar! I love going there on Wednesday nights for the happy hour and just relaxing in a warm and open atmosphere. In a city like Nashville, where the honky tonks are ever prevalent due to the city’s deep roots in country music, Walden Bar is absolutely a breath of fresh air in Nashville.

There are some interesting places in other areas of the city, but I don’t think I’d feel nearly as comfortable at those places as I do when I go to Walden. The owners are absolute sweethearts, warm and welcoming whenever you come in. The food menu is concise and very easy bar food, but all of what I’ve tried so far is amazing.

They even do brunch on the weekends that include a bottle service. Oh and they’ve done the math for you when it comes to how it needs to be split! I mean out of all the places I’ve been for brunch, this is the only place I’ve experienced that. Did I mention you don’t have to get a traditional mimosa either? Yeah, hello grapefruit mimosas because those are my favorite.

Not a big fan of brunch? No problem! After noon, they change the menus out and go to the evening menu. Now, I’ve only tried a handful of items off of it, but they are all amazing! For the Christmas holidays, they actually created a Christmas menu with drinks themed around Christmas movies and so on.

I spent New Year’s at the bar as well for a onesie New Year’s party. There was a Beer Pong tournament, games to play, and plenty of champagne to go around. Walden even had a New Year’s Eve menu for the evening with easy to eat food and there were champagne bongs. Yes, you read that 100 percent correctly. They were awesome.

If you’re looking for somewhere to go in Nashville that’s not a huge tourist attraction, then I highly recommend putting this on your list of places to go. Sure, it’s not in the heart of downtown, but sometimes the fun isn’t where you’d think to find it.

XOXO,

Trula Marie

      1. When I was in Korea, there was a Canadian sports bar called “Canucks” and it was home for me! I loved it!

Do you count Nashville as home? Or where your mom lives (does she live in Nashville? I always imagine she lives far away cos you go home and visit her sometimes)

        1. I honestly count both as home. Just because I feel so at home in Nashville. But home will also be wherever she is – always will be. She thankfully only lives a few hours away so visiting isn’t a huge ordeal.

          1. Ahh okies! I haven’t lived “at home” for over three years except for a month in the middle between Korea and Toronto, and I still count my parents’ house as “home” lol
