Season One

Good morning, Belles & Beaus!

I’m back with another Recent Listens post. After being utterly disappointed by The Black Tapes – which I will be finishing my season 2 & 3 reviews soon! – Tanis has redeemed my faith in a good podcast by this fictional radio station. And I’m honestly still holding out that they might bring The Black Tapes back so that I can get some closure, but sadly I’m sure that will never happen.

Where+is+Tanis_Tanis is a serialized bi-weekly podcast from the Public Radio Alliance and Minnow Beats Whale about something Terry & Nic have been obsessed with for well over a decade, a fascinating and surprising mystery: the myth of Tanis. Tanis is hosted by Nic Silver.

Tanis is an exploration of the nature of truth, conspiracy, and information.

Tanis is what happens when the lines of science and fiction start to blur…

But Tanis is still on going with the last episode being released on May 9, 2018. They returned yesterday (according to Twitter if I remember correctly) so I’m thoroughly excited to finish binge listening to seasons two and three.  So I’m hoping I might get a little more longevity out of this one than I had with the other. To be honest, what Tanis is has not been explained in the podcast. It’s not truly paranormal phenomenon but I would put it in that class for the time being.

I’ve finished the first season without batting an eyelash because I really enjoyed it and devoured it as quickly as I possibly could. I listen mostly at work and when I’m in the car to keep me preoccupied on the long drives home in the afternoon – basically the drive that takes me 30 minutes or so in the morning takes me almost an hour. It’s what I get for living in the city. But it gives me time to listen to podcasts.

Tanis follows Nic on his search for the truth about this mystery. And he quickly tells you in the first episode that he is not referring to the lost city of Tanis from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. To me, that was the first thing that popped into my head because I’m a Indiana Jones girl as well as a Bond girl.

Point being, I’m mid-season two and I’m really still not sure what is going on really. But the end of season one came in a shock to be honest. I can’t tell you much because I’m still reeling from a lot of it myself just because of the fact that you’re learning things, but you’re still not learning anything! It’s frustrating! At least in The Black Tapes we learned a bunch of things as we went. But this…. You don’t learn anything about Tanis really because no one knows what it is!

I’m still in love with it and I can’t wait to see where things are going to go with it and if we’ll ever find out what Tanis really is.

But that’s it for Friday Eve, I hope you all have an amazing day!

XOXO,

Trula Marie
