Happy Tuesday, Belles & Beaus!

I’m back with a vengeance and review on a book by one of my favorite authors, Phyllis A. Whitney. Snowfire was sadly not my introduction to this wonderful writer. But her books really had me devouring page by page for weeks during the seventh and eighth grade. I love her writing, and I really need to get more of her books. But for now, I will have to settle for this chilling thriller.

UntitledEager to clear her step-brother of a murder charge, Linda Earle comes to a snow-covered ski resort in the Northeast, where she finds herself in a unique world of icy weather and fiery passions. The master of Greystones is Julian McCabe, a champion skier whose career was cut short by a tragic accident. He has been teacher and sponsor to Linda’s talented step-brother. But now this promising young athlete is in jail, accused in the bizarre death of Julian’s wife.

Linda soon discovers that this death has cast its shadow over all the residents of Greystones. Julian’s ethereal sister is full of tales of reincarnation and visions of more death. And his eight-year-old daughter is haunted by fear and guilt. A severe blizzard, a dangerous encounter in a stone tower, and a death on the slopes lead Linda to a discovery she has never expected.

As I said, this isn’t one of my favorites of hers, but it’s a read that I would read over and over again without hesitation even if I know the ending. Phyllis uses females as the main characters in all of her books and I absolutely adore it. Now sometimes they have to be saved by the male that they’ve fallen in love with in the books but to me, it’s okay from time to time because it’s the female that always puts the clues of the mystery together.

Essentially the summary from the back of the book/goodreads gives a lot of the plot away, but that’s okay! I mean, you don’t get everything from it! I think that’s the reason that I love her books. The summaries draw you in and it’s like “I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!”

This is my least favorite mainly because of how the love story isn’t crazy prevalent like most of the others I’ve read. It kind of just… Happens? But all the rest of it is amazing! I promise! Her books have always been a good read for me and I can’t wait to find more to share with y’all!

XOXO,

Trula Marie
