The POREfessional: Matte Rescue Invisible-Finish Mattifying Gel

I figured that I’d been using this long enough that I can definitely say that it has become one of my must have products in my makeup bag. Now, I do not say this lightly as I am still in love with the Becca Ever Matte Primer, however, this might just be a little better than that. Even with the Becca Ever Matte, I still get a little oily in the areas I put it. With Benefit’s Matte Rescue Gel, I literally have no issues with my foundation causing my skin to be oily. It’s like it creates a barrier between my skin and the foundation. My stance is still pretty strong with the Becca Ever Matte, but the application instructions are very different. Let’s do a short recap.

The Becca Primer requires you to warm the primer – a pea size – in your hands/fingers and then pat into your skin. This causes the primer to become textured so I highly recommend not following the instructions on the tube.

The Porefessional Matte Rescue Gel does not require this. You squeeze it out of the tube and just start rubbing into your trouble zones. I usually do the tops of my cheeks where I put my highlighter as well as my forehead, nose, cupid’s bow, and chin. My chin is where I get a lot of oil build up so I try to minimize that as much as possible. It comes out a blue color but once you massage it in, it immediately becomes invisible and you can’t see where you’ve put it on your skin. You sure can feel it though! By mean it, I feel the difference between being extremely oily as I usually am to not. It doesn’t dry my skin out because it’s just as soft as ever, there’s just no oil.

Now, Ulta carries this in two sizes. The mini – which is what I bought first to try it out- retails at Ulta for $10 USD. The full size retails for $28 USD. I obviously wouldn’t be writing this if I didn’t love this product. It’s amazing and it’s much better at controlling my oil. So much that I actually use it when I’m not wearing my makeup. It just helps control the amount of oil on my face which is pretty much the best thing ever. I highly recommend it, but obviously be careful about the ingredients in case you’re allergic to something in it!
