My Products & What They Do For Me
So, Belles & Beaus, I make it no secret that my hair is color processed. I go about every three months to have my stylist love on my hair and bring back its color. This means my hair gets a little damaged by the process and that I have extra careful about the products that I use on my hair. The most important note is that it must be color safe! That means it won’t strip the color from my hair when I wash it. So the products I’m sharing today are my tried and true products.
Joico Purple Shampoo & Condition
I have this in the jumbo size as well as the travel size because that’s just who I am. This is best because it takes forever to get through the jumbo sizes so I also use those to refill the travel bottles as needed. This was my go to for the longest time but it makes my hair turn slightly purple and hold onto too much color when I see my stylist. But it still is amazing and keeps my color vibrant like I like it to be. The Joico is also sulfate free which is really good for your hair as well, as sulfates can be harmful to the hair follicles.
I use this between washes with my other shampoo and conditioner which I will talk about next. This type of shampoo is good for all blondes because it helps to maintain our hair at a brighter color and deter the brassiness that tends to creep up from the water we shower in. If you are a blonde – bottle or otherwise -, then I fully recommend getting yourself some type of purple shampoo. But use it sparingly or mix it with your current shampoo to keep it from grabbing to your hair because the lighter your blonde the more likely to turn purple you are.
Herbal Essence: Bio Renew
This is a new addition to my hair routine. I alternate this with my Joico every other wash to help strip out the excess purple shampoo that clings to my hair. This was a product I received via Influenster to try and review for them as well as for here. Basically I fell in love with it and it smells amazing! It’s pH balancing and color safe, so pretty much it had my seal of approval when it showed it didn’t strip my color out.
Palmer’s Deep Conditioning Coconut Oil Pack
This was recommended to me by Chrissey at The Unabridged Sass. I was looking for something to promote growth with my hair and this has really done with trick as well as helped my hair get a little healthier. I try to do it every two weeks but that plan went a little sideways by accident. Now I’m doing it at least once a week with plans to do an overnight session this Friday after work.
The routine is pretty simple, plus the instructions are on the back of the pack. First you shampoo your hair – the pack calls to use theirs but you don’t have to – and then you put the whole pack into your hair, making sure you comb it through. You can leave it on for as long as you want, but if you plan to sleep in it you need to have a plastic cap to put over it. And after the time is up, you just rinse it out and proceed as your normally would with the rest of your routine. It’s my favorite go to and my hair loves it.
Nature’s Bounty Extra Strength Hair, Skin, & Nail Vitamins
Last but not least of my products are my vitamins that I really suck at taking. But I definitely notice the difference between when I take them as directed and when I don’t. My hair seems to love them and so do my nails and skin. They’re just great all around. I’ve heard biotin or prenatal vitamins help with hair growth and making it healthy, but these don’t make me self conscious about the bottle except when I’m shaking out a pill. You’re supposed to take them three times a day so I try to take them after my meals. For some reason, I always forget dinner.
Side note: If you know of a vitamin tracker for the iPhone that might be helpful at reminding me about them, then please link me in the comment section!
More Protein In Diet
Okay this isn’t really a product but it’s a good tip to help with your hair. Aiming to get more protein in your diet will really help your hair as that’s one of the key things our body needs in general. For the longest time, I was eating a lot more protein and my hair was so happy a long with the rest of my products working on it. The more protein you eat the better everything gets to be honest! Guess I need to fit more fish into my diet again.
But there you have it. My way of taking care of my hair. My next hair post will be about my tools that I use like the hair dryer I use and my brushes.
I hope you all have an amazing Hump Day!
XOXO,
Trula Marie
