Whoa That’s A Mouthful

Hey belles & beaus!

IMG_7058I know I’ve been slacking again. I apologize. But I’m going to do my best to make up for it this week! Beginning with this review that has been a long time coming. I know I had this in my most recent monthly favorites but this product deserves a review on its own just because of how amazing it has been for me and my skin. Plus, I fully believe this needs more in-depth reviewing than what I did in my monthly favorites.

I bought this product at the beginning of June after having it be recommended by one of the managers that works at the Ulta that I frequent. Let’s be honest, spring hits and my skin goes from dry as heck to oily in no time and it doesn’t get any better until the dry cold of winter shows up. I was desperately in need of something that would help with my oil problems on my nose and chin.

Now this is how they describe it on Ulta.com:

Go beyond extending makeup wear to address the root cause of why your makeup moves. This formula specifically targets oil-prone areas and acts as liquid blotting paper to leave your skin fresh and matte all day. Use alone, before, or after foundation to control excess oil, while minimizing the appearance of pores. Feel free to use throughout the day to touch up areas of concern. This product eliminates excess oil for long-lasting matte skin. The formula is sweat- and humidity-resistant and free of silicone, oil, alcohol, and fragrance.

Now mind you, it flat out says in the description it is oil free. If you need a clearing up on that, it translates to good for oily skin because you’re not caking your skin with products that have oil in them. The less oil you’re putting on the skin, the more likely it won’t be nearly as oily.

Now their instructions for how to use this product are on the box and bottle when you purchase but I’m going to include them here so you can follow along with where I’m headed.

Instructions:

Primer can be worn alone or under foundation. To apply, warm a pea-sized amount in hands and pat onto specific areas of concern like the T-zone. Allow product to dry before following with makeup application. For touch-ups throughout the day, warm primer in hands and pat over makeup to target oily areas.

I don’t ever reapply the primer during the day just because I don’t wear my makeup for over 6 hours generally so I cannot offer any insight into how it works on top of my foundation ( Bare Minerals Bare Skin in Porcelain). I found though that following the instructions of patting the primer into my areas of concern had a tendency to create a texture on the skin where I placed it.

When I would apply my make up on top of these areas, it would look as if the makeup itself was getting caught up on dry/dead skin. It was working so well to help with my oily skin problems that I just couldn’t give up on it. This led me to trying a different way of applying it. I continued to warm a small bit between my fingers that I would use in small places. Afterwards, I would massage the product into my areas of concern instead of patting it. This -for the time being – has stopped the problems with the textured effect that I was getting when patting it into the skin.

This primer is definitely worth the price you would pay for it, but I’m going to be honest: I so used my built up point stock to get it a lot cheaper. Currently I’m saving up my points to get the Naked palette that I’m in love with and I can’t justify spending $42 on it. I’m cheap when it comes to eye makeup. I hope this little review helps if you are looking to try a new primer! Remember they offer it in a travel size now so if you don’t want to spend $36 or so on it, then you can always get the $15 option to try!

XOXO,

Trula Marie
