Book Two in the Outlander Series
Okay so I decided to review my most recently finished book, Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon. For those who may not be familiar with her work, Gabaldon has written the critically acclaimed book series entitled Outlander. For those that have probably seen the show, these are the books that the seasons are based on.
Now, I am pretty bad about reading books before watching shows based off of them. I actually managed that when The Vampire Diaries started which that show decided to go in a complete different direction than the books and is why I’m slightly celebrating this being the last season because they ruined it.
But Outlander‘s TV adaptation of the books has been pretty much spot on since I read the first book entitled Outlander and then did a re-watch of the show.
Now, I recently just finished Dragonfly in Amber this past Sunday. I’m not going to ruin anything for anyone, but it was an amazing read. The ending was a little unexpected, but it’s definitely the perfect lead on for book three. Part of the ending literally made me bust out laughing that the people around me looked like I was crazy. It was just a typical James Fraser move to be honest that had me cracking up.
The first few episodes of season 2 for the show have been pretty spot on with the book so far. Now I can’t say that much for the rest of the season because I told myself I couldn’t enjoy the rest of the season until I had finished the second book. So now that I’ve finished it, I can plan to binge watch the show this next week.
I definitely suggest reading the books though. Honestly, I have had a hard time bouncing out of the Teen Fiction for a while now just because I could never find a book series that truly caught my attention, but these books definitely have enough fun in them to make them worth the reading. So go to your nearest book store and pick up the first book so you can get on the page with me!
